That's an interesting observation about Truth there. Her Japanese voice is too sweet and bubbly for my liking and I think Caitlin Glass better conveys her 'bossy' nature. He nails both the deceptively kind, elderly man and the formidable, authoritarian leader. I could hear a man going through hell in that anguished scream.įurher King Bradley is great too. And goddamn, his performance when he confronts Envy in episodes 53-54 is perfect. I think Travis Willingham's take on a lot of the comedy is spot on. Yeah, I really like Roy in the English dub. I think many of the voices match the characters more. After switching between Japanese and English, I always end up settling on the English dub every time. Ironically he sounds a lot older as opposed to Al (I keep forgetting they're only two years apart) but I think that works really well. Seemed like an attempt to make the scene more creepy but I don't think that was really necessary. In the German and Japanese versions he has a much deeper voice which makes him sound much more like a god. For some reason they went for this really high pitch/creepy voice. But the one voice I couldn't stand was Truth/God. First of all some of Ed's lines on religion are phrased in a way that I guess is supposed to be less offensive? It's still clear what the message of the whole Father Cornello story is but just way less explicit for some reason.Īl sounds a lot younger than in the German dub but that's pretty accurate to the Japanese version. I like the voices overall but some things bother me a bit. So I've only watched the German dub before and I thought it'd be fun to do a rewatch in English.
